Weekly
Drainage Board Meetings
On
Tuesday, January 3, 2006, The Vanderburgh County Commissioners decided to hold
Drainage Board meetings every week rather than monthly as was customary.
The
Commissioners’ decision to hold weekly Drainage Board meetings is based on
their desire for a more speedy review and processing of street and drainage
plans to expedite residential and commercial development in Vanderburgh County.
Drainage
Board meetings will commence immediately following the regular County
Anyone
who has business with the Drainage Board should make arrangements to attend and
arrive at the meeting before the proceedings commence.
How
It Will Work
As
the Drainage Board’s technical advisor, the
Whenever
sufficient business exists to warrant a Drainage Board meeting, the County
Surveyor will post a FINAL agenda at noon Thursday prior to the meeting to be
held the following Tuesday. Items not appearing on the agenda have little chance
of receiving a recommendation to approve.
If
there is not sufficient business to warrant a Drainage Board meeting, no new agenda
will be posted, and the County Surveyor will advise the Drainage Board to
postpone their meeting on the following Tuesday.
The
Plan
Submittal Deadline
The
County Drainage Code sets a plan submittal deadline two weeks prior to the
Drainage Board meeting. However, most plans can be reviewed in a shorter period
IF workload allows AND the plans truly are compliant with code and ready to
approve.
Therefore,
if a plan is submitted by end of business day on a Wednesday, the plan preparer
may reasonably assume the plan will appear on the Drainage Board agenda posted
at noon, Thursday, one week later, thereby shortening the customary review and
approval process by about two weeks.
