Vanderburgh County Surveyor

Office Information

The Vanderburgh County Surveyor's Office maintains the public land survey system and all legal drains within the county. The County Surveyor also reviews and recommends approval of drainage plans for the Vanderburgh County Drainage Board.

The Surveyor's Office is open Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:00AM-4:30PM and is closed on all county observed holidays.

2024 Specifications for the Maintenance of Regulated Drains

-The 2024 Specifications for the Maintenance of Regulated Drains have been approved for release by the Vanderburgh County Surveyor's Office.  This document contains links to all of the portions of the 2024 Drainage Specifications.

-The Vanderburgh County Drainage Board has approved the 2023 Annual Report.  This report provides information on all of the county's regulated drains and can be found here

-The Vanderburgh County Drainage Board was given a presentation from Ian Hahus with Christopher B. Burke Engineering, LLC on the Pigeon Creek Project which they have been working on for the past several months.  The presentation is an initial assessment of the issues and challenges that are being faced by our county with this major waterway and some preliminary recommendations for what we may be able to do going forward to address these issues.  The link can be found here.

-The Vanderburgh County Drainage Board has approved a full list of meeting dates for 2024 which can be found here: 2024 Drainage Board Meeting Schedule.

-The Vanderburgh County Drainage Board has changed the Drainage Code, and these changes took effect on 01/01/2018. The fully revised Drainage Code is available here. These changes include a new section containing a Technical Memorandum, which can be found here or underneath "Useful Links" at the bottom of this page.
