Other County GIS Web Sites
Vanderburgh County maintains several GIS Web sites
providing digital data useful to landowners, surveyors, engineers,
cartographers, real estate developers, floodplain investigators, and persons of
varied interests.
Indiana High Accuracy Reference Network (HARN)
The HARN network is critical to the spatial development of
Indiana. HARN comprises 148 stations statewide, with at least one station in
each county. HARN stations are permanent, high-order survey monuments. National
Geodetic Survey (NGS) specifies:
- A-order
stations with a relative baseline accuracy of 5 mm + 1:10,000,000
- B-order
stations with a relative baseline accuracy of 8 mm + 1:10,000,000
Two A-order stations are located at the Indianapolis
airport, and one is positioned in Bloomington. Vanderburgh County enjoys six B-order HARN
stations, the highest number available in Indiana counties, which helps land
surveyors to establish high-order accuracy.
